Supplies, Grading and Miscellaneous


I.    Supplies
          1.    Text Book:    Stats Modeling the World, Second Edition  
               (Pick up from the Library ASAP),
        2.    Amsco's AP Statistics Review Book
               (Available from IHS Bookstore for approximately $20.00),
        3.    200+ page spiral for classnotes,
        4.    3" binder for class handouts, and a
        5.    TI 83/84 Graphing (Required, if needed get from LIBRARY while supplies
               last!) Classroom has only 15 calculators.

II.    Grading

     
            30% Homework must be completed at AP level; Neatness
                        is critical! Students should anticipate approximately
                        45 minutes per night.

                        HW will be graded on scale of 0-4
                        0 - Not turned in (no exceptions)
                        1 -  Less than 50% complete
                        2 -  50-75% completed with effort.
                        3 -  75% + completed with effort
                        4 - All problems attempted at AP level      
 
                        There will be HW quizzes some of which will be
                        unannounced


               70% Tests and Quizzes (Test 50%, Quiz 20%)
                       There is a cumulative Mid Term
                        and the AP Exam is in May  (all students are
                                             required to sit for the AP exam) 
                        A Final Project represents the majority of the 4th Qtr grade.

III.    MISC    

            This is a COLLEGE Course! You are the OWNER of this course! 
          If you read the chapters, do the HW, ask questions and STUDY,
          then you will succeed!    

                
IV.    Hot Buttons            

             The first ten and last ten minutes of classtime are mine, that means be to class on time and no breaks at the start and end of class. Also, see me if you do not have a lunch period, otherwise no food in the class; drinks are acceptable.

Consider this your only warning! No cell phones, no ipods, no headphones and no hoods. (Parents please do not call/text students during class if at all possible; please call main office to have messages forwarded, Thank YOU!!)
